Ark Academy's faculty and staff will LEAD our students by walking in love, focusing on excellence, and striving for positive attitudes while growing in Christ-centered discipleship.  We do that by partnering with families in a grace-filled environment by providing Christ-centered education to enable students to reach their highest potential so they can become humble servants who work diligently to disciple others for the glory of God and take an active role in their family, church, and community.

Ark Academy will be a place where faculty and staff will want to work, and students will love to be.

  • You will take prayers for Ark Academy and others seriously
  • You will keep all prayers and names confidential
  • You will take time to pray on a daily or weekly basis
  • This is a volunteer position but a very important one
Expectations:
  • Walk with students as they come to know God better by learning about the world around them from a Biblical worldview through the avenue of classroom instruction.
  • Exemplifies a positive attitude.
  • Seeks to promote the mission, vision, and core values of Ark Academy.
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor, maintains appropriate boundaries, and performs all faculty-related duties with enthusiasm and diligence.
  • Behaves in a professional manner at all times with colleagues, students, and parents.  This extends to all written, oral, and online communication.
  • Shares responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities and takes part in after-school activities.
Planning and Organization:
  • Starts lesson planning with these four questions:
    • What do I want students to know?
    • How do I know if they know it?
    • What am I going to do if they don't know it?
    • What am I going to do if they already know it?
  • Structures lessons to ensure authentic and meaningful learning experiences for all students with different learning styles and incorporating differentiated instruction.
  • Organizes classroom space, materials, and technology to support unit and lesson goals and create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning.
  • Cooperates with all in-school systems of organization (i.e. FACTS Student Information System)
Management and Instruction of the Classroom:
  • Incorporates the Biblical worldview in all areas of instruction.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently enforces high standards for student behavior.
  • Is fair and respectful toward students and builds positive relationships.
  • Teaches and reinforces classroom routines that serve to maximize the learning environment.
  • Consistently enforces school rules and policies.
  • Maintains behavioral control of students in the classroom in a way that promotes optimal learning.
  • Activates students' prior knowledge and hooks their interest in each lesson.
  • Utilizes instructional time well.
  • Frequently checks for understanding and gives students helpful feedback.
  • Takes responsibility for students who are not succeeding and gives extra help while utilizing intervention measures and partnering with parents.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Teaching experience highly valued
  • A willingness to share Christian testimony and instruct others in the faith
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Works independently with little direct supervision
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Utilizes all required and recommended Ark Academy computer applications
  • All employees must commit to performing his/her duties in accordance with the stated mission of the school, be a Christian, and regularly attend church
